For me, Paultons Park is a 9/10. It is amazing because there are so many good rides, and even though there are a few ups and downs, the positives are much bigger than the negatives. Storm Chaser is my number one because it feels like you are spinning in the air, let loose and going really fast. Raven is my second favourite, and I think it is better than other mouse coasters I have been on because it feels like it has more going on.

Paultons works because it is not just for one type of visitor. Younger kids, families and thrill seekers can all have a good day here, which is a big reason I rate it so highly. We love it so much that we have season tickets, and Valgard has made the thrill side feel even bigger, with fast, high-energy rides that give the park a proper headline area of its own.

Storm Chaser was wow. I went mad after my first ride, and Paultons Park is amazing because there are so many good rides.

Rides & Areas

Storm Chaser

100cm Toby's favourite

My favourite ride at Paultons, 100 percent. It feels like you are spinning in the air and just being let loose, really fast. It is the ride that gave me the biggest reaction, and my first ride on it is still the moment I remember most.

Raven

110cm Mouse coaster Toby's runner up

This is Toby's second favourite ride. He describes it as a mouse coaster, but better than other mouse coasters he has tried because it feels like it has even more elements and more going on.

Drakon

125cm Big thrill

The headline coaster in Valgard and Paultons Park's first inverting coaster. It has a vertical lift, a beyond-vertical drop and two inversions, so this is firmly in the absolutely mad category.

Vild Swing

120cm UK's first Wild Swing

The UK's first Wild Swing and one of the standout new Valgard thrill rides. It swings, lifts and throws loads of energy into that area, and it looks phenomenal in the middle of the Viking theming.

The Edge

120cm High energy

A spinning Disk'O coaster just beyond Valgard. It is one of the bigger thrill rides in this part of the park and fits neatly into that fast, high-energy run of attractions.

Flight of the Pterosaur

100cm Family coaster

Suspended family coaster in Lost Kingdom with legs hanging free, swooping turns and dinosaur theming. A strong step-up ride for families who want more than the smallest coasters.

Velociraptor

100cm Family coaster

A cool family boomerang coaster near Flight of the Pterosaur. It runs forwards and backwards, has strong Lost Kingdom dinosaur theming and is one we enjoy.

Peppa Pig World

Various Young children

Peppa Pig World is not a thrill area. It is built for young children, with gentle rides, bright theming and familiar characters for little fans.

Valgard - Paultons' all new area

Valgard is the new Viking area and it has pushed Paultons Park's thrill line-up up another level. This is where the park feels fastest and most high-energy, with Drakon, Raven and Vild Swing all sitting together as a proper cluster of bigger rides.

Vild Swing is the UK's first Wild Swing, Raven is the mouse coaster Toby rates so highly, and Drakon is absolutely mad: a vertical lift, a beyond-vertical drop and inversions at a park people still sometimes think of as just a family day out. Just beyond Valgard you also have The Edge, and the park is currently building the UK's first water coaster.

First coasters

Cat-O-Pillar Coaster and the little dinosaur first-coaster rides are better treated as stepping stones, not disappointments. They are useful for younger children building up confidence before moving on to the bigger family coasters like Velociraptor, Flight of the Pterosaur and eventually Storm Chaser.

Honest Take

Who it works for

Toby's view is that Paultons Park is not just a little-kids park and not just a thrill park. Younger children, families and thrill seekers can all have a good day, because the park has gentle first rides, family coasters and bigger thrill moments in the same place.

Small downside

Toby's main criticism is brief but honest: on his last visit there were some unpleasant smells around Tornado Springs. It did not ruin the park for him, but it was the worst thing he remembered from the day.

Moment he remembers

Toby's unforgettable Paultons moment is his first ride on Storm Chaser. He remembers the excitement, the speed and the shock afterwards. His reaction was basically: wow. He says he went mad after it, and that first Storm Chaser ride still sticks with him.

  • I have eaten in Tornado Springs and thought it was pretty good. More recently I usually eat in the Feast Hall or bring sandwiches. My honest warning is that food can be expensive, and if you are not a big eater, a children's meal can be surprisingly filling.
