Serpent's Curse Goes Vertical at Paultons Park and It Already Looks Massive
Supports are now rising for the new Valgard water coaster, and this is exactly the sort of Paultons update that gets us properly excited.
Serpent's Curse at Paultons Park has gone vertical, which means the new 2027 water coaster is now starting to look like a real ride rather than just a construction site. Recent photos shared by Paultons' Marketing and Technology Director Lawrence Mancey show support columns standing across the site, with yellow track pieces and groundwork visible around the future layout.
This is the next big step for Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. Paultons opened Valgard in 2026 with Drakon, Raven and Vild Swing, but the area is already being extended again for Serpent's Curse in 2027. That is why Paultons feels so exciting at the moment, because they are not just opening one thing and stopping.
Officially, Serpent's Curse is a custom-built MACK Rides water coaster. Paultons says it will have a lift hill, fast-flowing twists and curves, and a dramatic plunge into a final splashdown in the lake below. The park is also calling it one of its biggest rides to date, which is not a small thing when Drakon has only just arrived.
The height restriction has not been confirmed yet, so that still needs watching. From what has been announced, it sounds like it is being aimed at families with older children, teenagers and thrill seekers who want something more adventurous than a tiny splash ride.
There is another bit of Valgard news too. Seal Falls, the junior mini log flume that has been at Paultons since 2002, is being rethemed and moved into the Valgard extension as Little Serpents. So the new area should end up with the big water coaster and a smaller water ride for younger visitors as well.
My honest take is that this could be massive for Paultons. Storm Chaser is already one of my favourites, Drakon made Valgard feel like a proper step up, and now Serpent's Curse looks like it could give the park another proper headline ride. If the splashdown is as good as it sounds, this could be one of the most exciting UK theme park openings of 2027.
